Zhangjiajie Global Geopark is rich in animal and plant resources and is well-preserved in natural ecology. There are400 species of wild animals and 850 kinds of woody plants . There are many first-class preserved animals, such as leopard, red abdomen tragopan, tiger of South China (never be seen from 1958); second-class preserved animals, such as macaque, pangolin, bear, water dog, zibet, deer, hair head deer, gold cock, hawk, giant salamander; top preserved plants, such as jade tung; second-class preserved plants, such as bretschneideraceae, white bean tree, giant purple bramble, aromatic fruit tree, and so on, amounting to about over ten species; the third preserved plants over 20 species, such as yellow trees, white camphor, and so on.
