In April,2012, directed by geomorphologist Professor Heqing Huang and Professor Changxing Shi from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, over 20 scientists investigated the geomorphic characteristics of the Wulingyuan Distrcit in Zhangjiajie Ctiy for around 14 days, aiming at exploring the formation of drainage geomorphology as well as its evolution processes by providing the relative data.
During the following time, the sedimentation of Suoxi Lake was measured, and data collections such as meteorological, rainfall, runoff and sediment in the rivers in Zhangjiajie region were conducted, with the aids of some workers in weather bureau, hydrological station, agricultural bureau and other local departments. The work played an important role in geomorphic evolution processes in Zhangjiajie region.
