In order to
cultivate the interest of university students in geo-tourism, Zhangjiajie
UNESCO Global Geopark warmly welcomed students from the School of Earth and
Space Sciences of Beijing University to conduct social practice during January
21-25, 2018.

During
the practice, staffs in the administrative office of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global
Geopark presented a detailed introduction of the geopark and the students from
Beijing University visited the Geopark Museum and many geo-heritage sites,
including Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Baofenghu Lake, Tianzishan Mount,
Huangshizhai and Huanglongdong Cave.
The students also conducted an in-depth
investigation of tourism resources and their use in Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global
Geopark through issuing questionnaires and interviewing tourists. Consequently
they provided many suggestions on how to promote science popularization
activities more widely, how to conduct joint science popularization activities with
colleges and universities more effectively, and on how to present scientific
research achievements to the public in more accepable forms.
The
social practice provides a good platform for the School of Earth and Space
Sciences in Beijing University to educate students in practice and both Zhangjiajie
UNESCO Global Geopark and Beijing University have agreed to cooperate in future
social practices.
