Sandstone and Karst cave landforms are the two main landform types in Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark, with the former being seldomly seen in the world. The two types of landforms are distributed at different places as we can see from the distribution map of the geoheritage sites below. In addition, the sandstone landforms in Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark result largely from the action of surface water flow and also differ from one one place to another. To understand the characteristics and evolutionary processes of the landforms in the geopark, 7 routes are recommended and detailed in the late parts.
