In order to carry out activities on geoscience popularization, geopark development, and importance of eco-environmental protection to students from middle and primary schools more effectively, the museum of Zhangjiajie Global Geopark provided a free show in its special 5D theatre during the holiday period for celebrating the International Children¡¯s Day and the Dragon Boat Festival. About 2000 students experienced an adventure along with the historical development of Zhangjiajie landform in the theatre.
The museum of Zhangjiajie Global Geopark is located in the central area of the geopark and its main functions are to provide geoscience popularization on the distinct Zhangjiajie landforms globally and to interpret the formative mechanisms and processes of Zhangjiajie landforms so as to enable the public¡¯s participation in geoheritage protection. It was upgraded significantly over a period of more than a year and re-opened to the public for free on the 45th World Earth Day (April 22, 2014). Since then, it has received more than 50,000 visitors and become a hot site on geoscience popularization in the geopark.
