On November 26th, Prof. HUANG He-qing, a geomorphologist and the director of the Joint Research Center for Zhangjiajie Geomorphology, gave a lecture on science popularization of Zhangjiajie Landforms under the invitation of the Administrative Committee of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark. Forty volunteers from Jishou University and Zhangjiajie City Museum attended the lecture. Prof. HUANG firstly gave an introduction to the development of global geoparks network and then detailed the characteristics and formative mechanisms of Zhangjiaije Landforms as well as the differences between Zhangjiajie Landforms and other commonly seen landforms. All volunteers listened carefully and raised questions actively. Prof. HUANG answered all the questions and meanwhile elaborated how to make self-improvement and how to do science popularization for people of different levels and circles.
All volunteers are excellent college students of different majors, who have great interests in geoparks, ecological nvironmental protection and public activities. They have been an effective force on strengthening science popularization in Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark. As demonstrated in many circumstances, electing volunteers from college students not only inherit the excellent spirit of volunteers, but also help to promote science popularization in Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark.
