Under the support of the Joint Research Center for Zhangjiajie Geomorphology and the Administrative Comittee of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark, Scientists from Australia, Germany and China have conducted collaborative studies for many years with Prof. He-Qing Huang as the leader. Using the state-of-art Cosmogenic Nuclide Dating technique and spatial nalytical method, they uncovered the process and physical mechanism underlying the evolution of Zhangjiajie sandstone landforms. The research results are published in the international journal of Earth Surface Processes and Landforms and selected as the cover paper of the Macrh issue.
