From March 31 to April 1, members of the Administrative Office of Zhangjiajie Global Geopark visited Taining Global Geopark. During the visit, a colloquium was held and members of the two geoparks introduced their practices and lessons learned from geoheritage conservation and geopark management. Importantly, a sister-geopark agreement was signed by the two geoparks. In the spirit of mutual benefit, friendly negotiation, resource sharing and win-win cooperation, both sides reached an agreement on mutual exchange and cooperation in five aspects: (1) organizing regular mutual visits; (2) conducting exchange and cooperation in geopark conservation, science popularization and geotourism promotion; (3) realizing resource sharing through mutual publicity on TV, newspapers and networks; (4) carrying out mutual cultural exchange and cooperation; and (5) providing a sound channel for mutual learning and exchange.
Members from Zhangjiajie Global Geopark did field investigation of Shangqing Stream, Zhaixia Canyon, the geological museum of Taining Global Geoaprk, digital monitoring center of the geopark and the excursion area of the ancient town. During the excursion, mutual exchange of views and suggestions were also made, significantly enhancing the mutual exchange and cooperation in geoheritage conservation, geopark management, science popularization and many mores.
Taining Global Geopark is the quintessence of the young Danxia landform, but also features various granite geosites of volcanic structures and many more. It is also blessed with pleasant ecological environment and cultural landscape, making it an integrated geopark for scientific research, science popularization, sightseeing, relaxation and holidays.
