On Oct.13, the administrative office of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark, Zhangjiajie Global Geoaprk Museum, Zhangjiajie Museum and Tourism College of Jishou University co-organized a series of activities to celebrate the International Disaster Reduction Day at the square of Zhangjiajie Global Geoaprk Museum, under the theme of ¡°Building safe homelands: avoiding disasters and reducing losses¡±.
To effectively explain the potential occurrence of geological and fire hazards in the geopark and the approaches for escaping from, life-saving by itself or mutually and disaster prevention, staff of the geoaprk and volunteers conducted many activities, including hanging up a large arc banner, distributing brochures and booklets, answering questions, and interpreting in the museum. In particular, more than 1000 geo-hazards prevention brochures and more than 800 booklets on Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geoaprk were distributed. In addition, more than 300 times of question-answering were provided. These activities have attracted wide participations and received a lot of praises from the public.
