From 19th to 22th of Sept., the 5th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium was held in Zhijindong Cave UNESCO Global Geopark of China. About 1000 representatives from 27 countries attended the conference and presented detailed communications on geopark development and management within the theme of UNESCO Global Geoparks Contribute to the Sustainable Development of Local Economy.
Zhangjiajie delegation led by Deputy Mayor Luo Zhibin attended the conference and participated in all the sessions, field investigation and geofair. While gaining a deeper understanding of the developmental tendency and latest information on UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, Zhangjiajie delegation also reported the progress preparing for the revalidation of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark next year to the officers and experts from UNESCO, Global Geoparks Network Executive Board and the Ministry of Land Resources of China.
During the conference, Zhangjiajie delegation also presented a particular exhibition of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark, companied with on-site explanations, booklets distribution and other activities. These impressed considerably international community on the scientific, aesthetic, ecological and socio-economic values of Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark as well as the tourism resources and facilities developed in the geoaprk.
