Under the invitation of Mr Christian Engelhardt, chairman of the administration of Bergstrasse-Odenwald UGGp of Germany, the delegation of Zhangjiajie UGGp led by Mr Luo Zhibin, the vice major of Zhangjiajie City, visited the geopark during Sept. 15-16. The Bergstrasse-Odenwald UNESCO Global Geopark is situated in the southwest of the State of Hesse. The Geopark's territory takes approximately 3500 km2, located between the Rhine valley in the west and the Main valley in the east. The region is bounded to the south by the Neckar valley and to the north by the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of Messel pit. During the visit, the representatives of the two geoaprks presented detailed communications on how to effectively manage each geopark and conduct science popularization and other activities. Importantly, both geoparks agreed to establish much closer relationships in the near future.
